About George Riney

George Riney

About the Artist�..George E. Riney (georgeddie) George was born and raised in Southern Illinois. Thankfully, a counselor at Alton High School recognized George’s artistic talents. She encouraged his parents to send him to art school. He became a student of art and continued his education at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While there, George became intrigued with furniture design. He graduated at the top of his class with a degree in interior design in 1968 and was promptly drafted for Vietnam. While in Vietnam, George painted names and cartoon characters on 105 Howitzers, giving each one its own personality. “LZ Kate” was sent one of George’s painted howitzers called “birth...
